immersiveInformatics is a distinctive training pilot programme, which aims to equip a broad range of academic staff roles with Research Data Management skills as a key element of capacity and capability-building. The immersiveInformatics programme will provide participants with the essential knowledge required to describe, manage, identify, access, preserve and re-use research data. An array of reporting and sharing tools will available to help participants reflect upon and communicate their training experience and findings.
The immersiveInformatics model is work-based and transferable. The pilot programme features information-intensive, hands-on, modular training for up-skilling front-line Research Data Management support staff within the academic departments they serve. The programme builds on a collaborative training approach, which draws together a strong group of research projects and teams from a variety of academic disciplines, research data domains and contexts. The pilot will be delivered to selected domains at both the University of Melbourne and the University of Bath, but has been designed to be transferable to other research domains in academia and beyond. Taken together, these unique elements contribute to maximizing the learning potential and networking opportunities from the programme.
The immersiveImformatics training focuses on each aspect of the institutional research lifecycle through ten interlinked, consecutive modules with specific learning objectives and outcomes. The programme consists of:
